Take Me With You
PHOTOGRAPHER – Amanda Austin
PUBLICATION – Yen Magazine
STORY - Take Me With You
STYLIST – Janai Anselmi
Janai’s inspiration for ‘Take Me with You’ was a vacant art gallery. She wanted to do a story where the fashion looked like art or an artist’s canvas. We therefore focused on clothing with digital prints that looked like paint splatters or prism effects, in voluminous forms with lots of texture.
We borrowed a well-loved painter’s drop-cloth from a set-builder buddy, figuring the real-deal would be much more effective than a homemade one! The initial idea was half the shoot in the gallery and the other against the drop-cloth in our grungy basement. The two were a little disjointed on the day so we focused on the grunge element!
The model is Ruby-J, originally from the central coast, who at the time was relatively inexperienced and is now en route to super model status. Fashion was poignant featuring Miu miu, Peter Pilotto from Belinda, Lisa Ho, Therese Rawsthorne, Haute NY label, Arnsdoff and young designers Michael Lo Sordo and Jessie Hill.
Amanda shot static and movement images in mostly natural light.
