Toyota

DIRECTOR – Hideyuki Tanaka
AGENCY – Dentsu Inc
CLIENT – Toyota
STYLIST – Jo Ayling & Janai Anselmi

JAS was excited to work with Dynamite Productions and Japanese director Hideyuki Tanaka on this upbeat and fast paced TV commercial for Toyota.

Shot in three or four iconic Sydney locations, every day over five days we provided character costume for pilots, air stewardesses, school kids, chefs, waitresses, and blingin’ rappers to name a few.

We worked with very tight turn-around times and were challenged to find and custom-make costumes like the yellow tracksuits, and items in less common sizes.

Cast were predominantly professional dancers who learned specially choreographed moves, guided by the fabulous Mayumi Kikuguchi, and needed outfits that they could move in but that were to brief. We had to consider the elasticity of the outfits as many of the dance steps required more extreme movement like kicks and squats. Short skirts were a no-go, hats had to be pinned to heads, ties taped to chests and nothing could be ill fitting!

Yellow runners were key in every shot so much stitching, hemming and altering of pants was required for the guys in order to see every detail.

Everyone played to an eye line in place of the CGI giant yellow trainers, which magically turn into cars after shiny, happy people of all walks of life boogie away in celebreation of the Toyota Vitz.
